General theme of the Gen VII mons seems to be "slow and bulky". There's some noticeable exceptions, like the Cutiefly line, but in general, we're looking at 40-70 or so speed.
Also I said it in my thread, but I'm saying it again: The music is really really good.
IIRC Johto started out with a lot of slower guys too. Even Sentret was pretty pokey. I ended up falling back on my top percentage Rattata for a lot of the first few areas just because everyone else was getting beat on so hard before they could land a hit.
Gladion is soooo good even though ive only seen him once thusfar
thoughts on the game so far: Im definitely liking the way the game is difficulty-wise so far, not *hard* at all but unlike in X and Y you have to think about things, feels comfortable. it would probably feel as easy as X and Y if i had the Exp Share on
I really like that the AI (usually) knows how to use moves correctly, and that enemies oftentimes have moves that cover their weaknesses. a notable exception with Totem Wishiwashi: Totem Wishiwashi was asleep and his help kept on wasting turns using Helping Hand on him?
I really like the fact that you have actual dialogue options, and I am overjoyed with Pokemon Refresh
Yeah I'd say it's in a nice sweet spot far as the difficulty curve goes (although I've had an at least harder time than I should in some respects by choosing mostly fliers so far), as someone also doesn't have the Exp Share on. I'd call it the hardest of the titles so far, but more importantly there is so much variety, like with just getting an Eevee out of nowhere. Also absolutely adoring the thematic elements as individual components and as a sum, with the music notably being in my favorites spot already.
Also agree with you on the dialogue and Pokemon Refresh.
Totem School Form Wishiwashi had a legit build-up, and I had a lot of fun. Amusingly, or sadly, or both, a lot of the potential danger was cut short due to my Magnemite getting a lucky first move Thunder Wave thanks to Quick Claw (and then getting pummeled).
I am really enjoying the whole "this is where you are supposed to go after you're done wandering aimlessly" bit. It is useful. I'm still not used to how tall my person is compared to AS, but I'm getting used to it.

Game Freaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaak.
Game Freak seems to love this type. Maybe they're still trying to make Zoroark happen.

gee
"you have a sassy rotom companion" is exactly the kind of thing I put in my hypothetical pokemon fangame I imagined up in middle school
(Post third trial spoilers)
