recently my (samsung galaxy three) phone has this thing where the battery drains very quickly, and more worryingly, with the battery anywhere at 70% or below, if i use the phone at all heavily the screen will flicker and the phone turn off. if i then turn it on again without charging it or waiting several minutes it will show near-zero battery (but it works normally if i wait or turn it on while charging). it's pretty irritating. anyone heard of something like this?

i had a similar weird battery thing with my samsung galaxy ess three and the problem was that the battery was literally bulging out of the phone and i had to get a new one. it was like eight dollars on amazon though

You know, as much as I hate it when manufacturers use proprietary connectors and sockets instead of standard ones...I will give Apple credit in that a USB cable that can be plugged into the phone either direction is a really neat idea.

That's much better than when Apple was still trying to push FireWire.

Haha, I remember that. Adding Windows compatibility to iPods seemed to be the death knell for FireWire, since it meant they had to add USB support anyways. (Who's ever heard of a PC with FireWire ports?)

I figured someone was gonna say that
I know they're not unheard of, but they were never common to the point where you could safely assume a PC user has FireWire available

The difference is that HDMI has actually seen widespread adoption to an extent that FireWire never really did.

I installed the Android N emoji font on my phone, because hey, if I have root, why not use it?
The ancient XPC I'm typing this on has a FireWire port, and I have it hooked to a DV box I'm not using at the moment because I haven't had any tapes to capture.

I really hate that emojis aren't standardized across all platforms.
Whatever if you choose to use alternate emojis, but the base ones should be standard so everyone sees the same thing. Some emojis look cool on some platforms and completely dumb or express different emotions on others.

The main S3 battery problem I had was just that it drained really fast, and had a habit of dying despite claiming to have 30% or so left.
as for case, i always keep my phone in its case. i'm pretty butterfingered and drop it a fair amount.
the solution i found online is to hit it. fuck computers
my iMac has a port but I've never touched it and my MacBook doesn't have one at all (the port I never use on there is the Thunderbolt one).
I remember someone mentioning this to me like it was the coolest thing ever.
So much for that.
Then again I have a similar experience with people mentioning HDMI like it's the best thing ever.
Called it.
