^ All the strangest things you can imagine, they let you do. Cup size, childhood trauma, water tolerance, abuse tolerance, vaginal depth, whatever strange specifications you want they'll look for a match
I bet "must be a good person and potentially a good friend/partner" doesn't even enter into it. Then again, that'd be more like that episode of TTA where Monty has to resort to a Rent-A-Friend service -- and the "friend" ends up being Buster.
"It is a matter of grave importance that Fairy tales should be respected.... Whosoever alters them to suit his own opinions, whatever they are, is guilty, to our thinking, of an act of presumption, and appropriates to himself what does not belong to him." -- Charles Dickens
^ I always thought that was the funniest part. "Tired of dating Western women? Order a woman from a land untouched by notions of gender equality... Russia!"
Not something I would do or approve of doing, but how is that different from other "money for beauty" exchanges quite a lot of marriages seems to follow? At least that arrangement is up front about it.
I'm not sure if I see anything inherently immoral about an arrangement that involves one party serving as a mate in exchange for higher socioeconomic status as long as it's consensual.
I personally would want to avoid such an arrangement. Less because of any interest in whatever wealth the woman would bring into the partnership, but more because it might be easier to feel as though there was an equal give and take, and that the relationship was based on enjoyment and respect of the other's character more than worldly needs.
I really don't know what goes on with mail-order spouses. I wouldn't pass judgement on people who participate in it until I was more aware of what that involves.

^ Could you clarify what "respect of the other's character" means? Is it better for people to choose mates who are their equal in virtue?
Honestly. "personality" is probably the better word for what I had in mind, I just avoided it for fear of it being cliched and dredging up unwanted connotations.
I guess for the second question it depends on the couple. I wouldn't mind a wife that held herself to higher moral standards as long as I could agree with them. An immoral wife could be interesting, but it seems like at best that could still be an inconvenience, and at worst, dangerous.
Sure, I would want to discourage people from wrong-doing, but I'd be more inclined to just communicate my disapproval and be generally less cooperative. Maybe getting the law involved as a final resort.
The inconvenience and danger I'm talking about essentially involves the person not being trustworthy or predictable in terms of keeping my interests in mind. It's not like I want a slave for a spouse, but I imagine things go more smoothly if I don't have to make guesses about what kind of devious plans are going on in her head.

...oh. I thought you meant it would be inconvient and dangerous for HER. Because you always came off as a woman beater in my head for some reason.
Anyway, one can wonder about just how "consensual" that arrangement would be. I mean, just how desperate someone has to be to essentially sell themselves to slavery?
And how the one buying spouse can be absolutely sure that the other person was not forced into it by someone?
Then again, I can see mail-order mate being enthusiastic about it. I have seen people who dreamed about marrying a rich foreigner in order to live in a prosperous country and willing to do anything to get that wish. Well, more power to them. Definitely better that pretending to love someone in order to make it happen.
Still, that is not something I would want to participate in. In any capacity.
Although a mail-order husband probably wouldn't have any ideas about expecting obedience from his purchaser/wife, so an idea is tempting... Sounds much safer that "normal" marriage
If a person is desperate enough that selling themselves into slavery as you say- though I wouldn't expect the typical situation to be as dire as what the word "slavery" usually brings to mind- is something that is appealing to them, wouldn't it be the case that you're improving their life by agreeing to it? Is that really exploitative in that case?
That's why I am not sure about it... One might not exploit them, but use the fact that someone else did. It's somewhat similar to the sweatshop situation - buy their produce and you support exploitative conditions, refuse to and these people will be left jobless which is worse.
Again, I am not certain, but that's why I'd rather not touch it with 11-ft pole.
Really? I always figured I was the farthest thing from that.
Bah forget it I'm only trying to get back at you for you calling me creepy in that one thread. I'm only saying you would beat women because I was butthurt still.

No, seriously. Not interested.
