People on youtube probably do it to make themselves sound more professional, but it just sounds whiny, and like they're doing bad acting instead of delivering a video essay
You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
Linkara's problem is that he has a strong Minnesotan accent, but for some reason he tries really hard to hide it when he doesn't need to.
a voice affected (that is, put on, so it's not their everyday voice) for the purpose of public speaking (that is, speaking to a large crowd) by a nerd (self-explanatory)
That's a good question. Why do a lot of YouTubers talk like they're second or third string reporters from a downmarket Upper MIdwestern station, anyhow?

Yeah, and no matter which way you parse it, it's still stereotyping nerds one way or another.

i guess?
that seems beside the point, it's still nothing to do with 'his normal voice timbre' or how he speaks 'on a normal basis'

I was saying that this is the Game Theory person's way of speaking, and it is certainly affected, but it is nothing like how most people speak, whether in casual contexts or formal public speaking, and whether they are or aren't nerds, so it's neither an affected {nerd {{public speaking} voice}}} (i.e. an affected version of a nerd's attempt at doing public speaking), nor an affected {nerd public speaking} voice (i.e. an attempt to produce the voice a nerd would make while doing public speaking), nor an affected nerd {public speaking} voice (i.e. the specially affected voice that a nerd would make while trying to do public speaking), nor some other combination. No matter which way one reads it, it's not that, so it doesn't seem right to characterize this tone of voice as something that nerds would do, regardless of whether it's purposeful or not, or whether it's an imitation or not (and if it is, whether it's a purposefully cheap imitation or not).

WHAT HE IS TRYING TO SAY IS THAT THERE IS A DELIBERATE VOICE THAT SOME YOUTUBE PEOPLE USE, AS EXHIBITED IN THE LINKED VIDEOS, AND THAT VOICE ANNOYS HIM

Ah.
I still don't get why he got angry at my responses, since they don't argue against that point anyway. Heck, I was agreeing.

it's part of why i think it's a troll series, honestly
Watch the second video to compare.
If you're talk about his actual normal voice timbre, I hear nothing much wrong with it.
it's right there in the title of the thread
The thread title says "Affected Nerd Public Speaking Voice".
Why don't you tell me how I'm supposed to parse this.
so why are you responding as though it doesn't?

Or like you are but your response makes no sense and is kind of accusatory, which is a bit exasperating.
this seemed like such a straightforward topic
