It's funny Vlad gets portrayed as someone who sold his soul to the devil in a lot of adaptations, because dude took his duties as a Monarch Of Christendom very seriously.
I would love a story akin to Marlowe's Faust based on the actual life of Vlad III Drăculea which actually confronts the fact that most of his worst atrocities were driven by blood vengeance and extreme patriotism.
anyways, lazy-acting commander man (one of the other best characters in the show for sure) and his #squad is now facing down the group of vampires that includes Mika and Pederast Noble Vamp Who Killed The Orphans
there is a huge action sequence going on now and apparently they decided this was not worth the budget so we are panning over a bunch of good to half-assed stills with some dramatic effects and sword nosies
And yet I have also read that certain sequences in this show are quite beautifully done, which sort of reminds me of Welcome to the NHK!'s weird handling of its animation budget.
mind you, this series can pull off genuinely heartfelt and moving (and on one or two occasions it has gotten genuinely disturbing or fittingly halucinogenic) moments from time to time
it's just that the plot is largely lubricated with a healthy slathering of narm

I looked up and there before me was a man dressed in linen, with a belt of fine gold from Uphaz around his waist. His body was like topaz, his face like lightning, his eyes like flaming torches, his arms and legs like the gleam of burnished bronze, and his voice like the sound of a multitude.

That probably was awkward.
Well, to be fair, we don't have photos.
Yeah, but seriously, that is one sexy weapon. >w>;
