    actually i think it's implied in episode iii that the force does come from midichlorians, since darth plagueis could manipulate them, and engineered anakin's virgin birth

    They don't say anything about him in the movie, other than that he could prevent death, and that he was murdered in his sleep by his apprentice, who is implied to be Palpatine.
