Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."
Oh wow, me too. AARoads is a good place to pick up little bits of information that I didn't know, but when it comes to randomly blabbing about roads I prefer to do that here.
For some reason, this makes me feel particularly happy.
I think one reason for this is, since you're not talking about the same thing constantly, it's easier to take your mind off things that bother you and not get too worked up. For some reason, discussions on fan forums seem a lot more heated to me than discussions here.
Of course, I'm not saying you shouldn't ever say that certain things bother you about stuff you like. It just seems calmer, friendlier, and more reasonable when it's brought up here. I'm not completely sure how to explain it, but I think that one reason is a good part of it.

I wonder if Justice is around. He'd love to hear this:
This vendor app I'm playing with is a vaguely JMS-ish message-queuing service. And it does something incredibly dumb when it starts up -- it tries to load all pending messages into memory. '
This means that if it has a few hundred thousand messages waiting around (which is rare, but does happen), it can take a good 30 minutes to an hour to start, and may never start at all because it'll run out of memory. :P
I'm seriously considering writing a shitty little program to parse the XML and dump the messages into an SQLite table. Even that would be faster, I bet.
I have no idea. Either they figured they could get away with a flat-file setup because all their own apps were "well-behaved" and wouldn't be clogging up the message queue, or they didn't want to pay royalties to someone for a database library.
Also, I was talking to my mom about FiM, and how Cartoon Brew panned it and a bunch of college-age guys started watching it because of it. She said the fan reactions reminded her of, of all things, Ren and Stimpy. She actually really liked the first season or so of R&S, and was well aware of its periphery demographic, so...
Pretty sure I haven't seen a cassette tape since I was last at my parents' house.
Funny how something so ubiquitous can become so uncommon.
I see Cassettes every day, but that's because ever since the iPod my friend gave me broke, I just went back to using the old Walkman that my parents gave me when I was 8.

Heh, I had a walkman when I was 8, too! It was some off-brand one--I think it came from Kmart--and it was yellow and gray. I had a tape of The Lion King soundtrack that I would play over and over.

I had the Lion King soundtrack as well. I played it so much that the tape wore out naturally. I had a bunch of other Disney cassettes to that were labelled "Hero songs" and "Villain Songs" or something like that. I listened to "Are you in or Out" from the Aladdin and the King of Thieves on repeat while I was doing my homework.
I was just reading up on SQLite3's capabilities, and apparently it will run out of page table space before a table can run out of rows. The row counter is a 64-bit unsigned integer.
Also, I'm going to bed soon. It's after 1 AM, and I have work in the morning. Good night!

One last thing: I was playing with my brother's old Sirius radio (which still has working service on it) earlier tonight, and now I have "I Love You Always Forever" stuck in my head. I"m currently playing "spot the Korg M1 patch" with it. :P

^^ That song reminds me of being like 7 and going to bed one night in the new pajamas I'd gotten from the JCPenney at the then-still-viable Northland Mall. It's an oddly specific memory, and I'm not quite sure what the association is.
^ Earth tones, I see. The last one almost looks like a flag of some sort. And it looks centered to me.
CA: The girl who sung that song, Donna Lewis, was performing that song live on Nick for some reason in mid-1996. I can't for the life of me remember why now. Kids' Choice Awards run-up, maybe?

"I've made a program!"
"Cool, what's it do?"
"It sends your program several thousands of java objects over and over again."

KMGH-TV lower third for main anchors, another for the weather team, and a fullscreen template thing. Is the last one's "NEXT" off-center?
