Today is one of those days where my lack of talent is bothering me.
I'm not even sure it's a talent issue, really. I just don't seem to be getting any better. I listen to stuff I made when I first started and it's really not any worse than what I'm doing now.
I'll sometimes get something good out, but when I do it seems less like the result of practice and more like random chance. I'm just not sure how to find out what I'm doing wrong/not doing write.
I'm home, and so is the car. I'll decide where to get it fixed tomorrow; it'll likely be the dealer, since I doubt there's any body damage, but if there is I guess it's going to my body shop...which means I'll need a rental. :P
Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."
Imi: Anything in particular? I like games but I'm a bit out of touch with most fanbases.
But to be honest you were better than me even when you started.
Maybe it's because I don't know anything about music, really. Or perhaps it's because I'm just cutting things together instead of using a real music-making program like FL Studio (well, I use that for drum loops sometimes, but it doesn't count. I can't figure out how to put patterns together, and the thing hates recording for me, for some reason. Doesn't help that I only have the demo and can't figure out how to crack the thing).
I was just reading that thread about game fandom lower on the page, and it became pretty clear why I didn't make it in the gaming culture.
"I LOVE playing the same super-hard parts over and over until I throw the controller at the wall in utter frustration! How dare people make games that are more casual and easy to get into!"
You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022

And now I have an annoyingly persistent headache. I should probably go to bed. Good night.

This seems to be a sucky weekend all around, for the heapers.
I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
Reading Sonic Stadium makes me feel inadequate...I've been following the franchise on and off for the better part of ten years and yet I feel like I know nothing about it :/
Games were particularly fun for me because they could be "physically" explored in a way that books, TV shows and movies can't. I never really liked the idea of playing games for the story, since the stories themselves are seldom that great.
I guess this is also why I feel a slight sadness at the direction the Sonic games opted for, even though I think the move from fully exploratory 3D environments to linear ones probably was an improvement in terms of gameplay.

I find the Unleashed-style gameplay rather fun, maybe I'm simple-minded.
Also, now I'm thinking about what a sense of power I get from boosting away from the GUN truck in Generations's City Escape Act 2 (which now behaves somewhat like the Interceptors in Unleashed and Colors).
I think one reason I liked the early Sonic games is that they weren't too difficult. For the most part, you could just rocket through and have fun without having to master any extreme challenges.
It is possible to create complex imaginary worlds in literature (see Tolkien, among others), but I can see how a game can let you explore them in a way a book can't. I did enjoy Yume Nikki for a while on that level.

One of my favorite things about the older games is activating debug mode, which I usually use to go to some out-of-the-way portion of the level and create little simple "levels". But the objects tend to disappear if you go too far from them...

Also, my "o" key is sticking. It's annoying.
You know what, fuck this.
I am going to work until I have something worth showing to people.
Just try not to show it to children, there are laws against that kind of stuff.
^^^How long would that repair take?
I'd say you've improved a lot, actually.

Whatever dood
Good night Gator.
It just seems to be something that comes up in the gaming culture...I think the first comic that Justice posted there has overtones of it.
I never really played games for the challenge, which I think is why I dropped the hobby.
I do see the appeal of "hardcore" gaming though, even though I suck at hard games. Challenge is fun.
But that's just me.
