Also the assumption that the teacher is female is rather funny given he's a rather large, bald, bearded fellow with a booming voice and a tendency to browbeat, which I am usually at the receiving end of.
I like him, weirdly enough.
oh for some reason I thought you actually specifically called them "she" at one point
1. He was referring to the colonists lack of representation, and how the use of the Gadsen flag by the Tea Party was disrespectful in a modern question, considering that (even if you don't LIKE the voice you're given) you have some choice. I intended to bring up the fact that minorities are voiceless, but instead came off like I was comparing aspects of the modern governmental system to that of colonial America (and might have given off a "young conservative" vibe too, which would be crappy if that is the impression he got of me)
2. Second time was because I insinuated the Libertarian Party was having a massive effect on Republican policy without having tangible onhand evidence to support it.
I'm 20. If you could manage to make 20 years work (or just lie and say I'm 21 since I do live on my own and such yada yada, and it'd be adhering to the spirit of the rule if not the letter) I'm more than willing.

according to Wikipedia, India is now the first country to get a machine to Mars orbit "on the first try"
crossposting because this is funny as heck imo
This is actually pretty cool. Every other country thus far to launch a probe into Martian orbit lost their first in some way, necessitating a second attempt, but India managed to get their relatively inexpensive satellite into orbit on the first go. That's actually pretty cool.
Although there are amusing aspects to that, of course.

it's definitely cool. i went and looked up all the other missions cos i was curious. i don't know about the costs, especially with the soviet ones, but Fobos-Grunt is listed as about as cheap as MOM, but I don't know if that includes the Chinese Martian probe Yinghuo-1 that failed with it. (Also the EU's Mars Express made it first try, but that ain't a country)
i like space probes from a control perspective because humans don't make many machines that will never receive maintenance and are intended to operate for decades
luna 1 and mariner 3 are still sitting around in heliocentric orbit
It's really just great that this country that the West sees as this vast Third World backwater is the first country to have a Martian probe that doesn't go kablooey on the first try. If I were an Indian national, I would be throwing a block party with "get stuffed, America" theme, I swear.
