I misread that as "lyrics were kinda meth tho" and now I'm trying to imagine what that would be like
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
it means they were written by Walter White :P
  • it kind of amazes me that there is a contingent that seems to genuinely think that Future is some kind of boundary-pushing genius/ironic, Beck-like virtuoso as opposed to just a guy who can't sing very well.
  • i have no clue who Future is
  • i'd like him better if he had a better singing voice

this song is a work of art though:

i have no clue who Future is

    rappa ternt sanga

he uses auto-tune like T-Pain too, but it isn't as good because, unlike T-Pain, he can't sing worth a shit
  • also he and Ciara are doing the nasty
  • i have no clue who Future is

    T-Pain but way worse.
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.

    delightful.
  • My dreams exceed my real life
    T-Pain bought me a mansion.

    Somewhere in Wisconsin.

    Cheapskate.

So because my laptop once again refuses to connect to the family wi-fi (despite TWC having just installed a brand-new router), I'm reduced to borrowing my parents' little netbook dealy.

    ...This is gonna be painful.

Mother seems to think my desire to live in New York City so I can "be somebody" is stupid

    :\
    don't you live in Columbus?
    Yes

    That's the problem

Except there are large other large cities, like Seattle, Dallas and Texas and Houston (though "Haha Texas" but to each their own, naturally), Los Angeles and Sacramento and Long Beach, Boston, Boise, and Portland, just to name some. All of the big cities get some measure of fame and "notice" within fictional works — Seattle's tendency to be the setting for dark and gloomy technological works come to mind — as expected; though New York's tendency to be associated with the glamor and fame, while quite popular, is not at all exclusive to New York. Going off of what Justice said, "settling" for "somewhere smaller/anything less than the best" is totally an option if you don't even know if New York is the place for you, or if other places happen to mesh more with you. For example, would you rather live in Portland, Oregon (or another liberal center, but Portland comes to mind easily), or a large city in the Deep South?

But I feel like picking a city that suits me is taking the loser's way out. It seems like I should aim for the highest--New York is the biggest and most culturally significant US city--and adapt to it, instead of the other way around.

Honestly, a big part of it is that New York seems unique and I want to be able to experience life there, even if it's not for very long.
  • my mom lived in new york for a while when she was doing whatever UN stuff she was doing

sounds like a boring place tbh
  • I'm a bit tired today, I was asked to come in an hour early.

    I worked 9 hours on 9/9.

    Truly I am the greatest.

  • dammit

i'm listening to the stuff Oliver and Zedd played at Thursday's concert

it's still all very good but I can't help but feel like I'm not getting the full experience. guess electronic really was meant for a clubby setting.

    :/
  • Time to watch more Breaking Bad.

Give me a break, give me a break.

I want to watch an episode of that Breaking Bad.

  • okay well

Oliver didn't play this BUT THEY TOTALLY SHOULD HAVE

    it's a jam

    nonsense!

you just need good headphones that can deliver on the subs and you will get most everything on most tracks that aren't by serious soundsystem freaks

like you will miss out on a lot of the physical all-consuming crushing helpless sensation you would get from something like Mala in a live setting, but with something like Zedd or whatnot you should be fine

I really like "It Just Ain't Gonna Work Out" by Mayer Hawthorne but every other song by him I've heard has been eehhhh.

    nonsense!

I believe this was supposed to be a response to what I said in the other thread.
  • huh? no that was in response to Tre
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
    Cirno day is almost over

    almost

    almost
  • and then she will return to the lake, where she (as the strongest) will guard it from all intruders until next year, when Strongest Day will be upon us again.
  • like i got my ath m50s which are pretty good and they do justice to almost anything i throw at them but they fall short once you go under 30ish HZ or so so tunes like this

you get this thing where you can hear the sub but it doesn't really represent it properly

but most tunes don't have bass that low, and ones that do are not meant with home consumption in mind

I remember you saying you liked those Audio-Technicas.

I might have to get them later on when I am employed and have monies. I'd trade my Beats for them, except I'm fairly sure doing so would be labeled as heresy by my folks.
  • Everyone at college uses Beats

    every

    fucking

    person.

To be fair, we sell them in the student store, so you can technically get them for free if you're so inclined.
  • I am doing some silly things in FL Studio right now.
  • you can listen to beats in a store

that is the thing that confuses me about them

you can try them before you buy them and people buy them

most people are not particularly headphone-conscious and tend to buy them more for the branding or appearance than the way they actually sound.

that reminds me i listened to some herbie hancock on a pair of the skullcandy hesh 2s in the store today and they actually handled them pretty well, prolly the best 50 dollar headphone i've heard
  • was it "Rockit" featuring the unmatched scratching prowess of Grandmaster D.ST/DXT/I don't know what he goes by now?
  • I'm going to bed in like an hour and a half I think. It's been an overall shitty day for me so if you could make the next hour and a half on thus thread reasonably negativity-free I'd really appreciate that.

    :o
  • Not to say it was particularly negative before, I just wanted to make sure it doesn't head in that direction.

Why are you a jpeg? :O
  • my least favorite thing about "Rockit" is the constant youtube comment flamewars over whether the song is hip-hop or "jazz funk".

20 Jazz Funk Greats is the best jazz funk.
  • yeah a white dude named Laurence seems like he'd know a lot about the history of rap music.
