Actually they did, in the Saturn version of SotN (of which my copy I found last week at Mom's place.) Unfortunately, the Saturn version fucking sucks, mostly because they force-fucked the resolution of the PS1 game (256x224) to the Saturn native resolution (352x240) and it looks just terrible
not to mention slowdown and lack of transparencies

It's far easier if you unlock Maria near the beginning of the game. She makes the entire game a cakewalk. If you want to go back and play through a stage with Richter, that's possible too.

Post by an Adobe support representative (emphasis mine):
Effective December 13, Adobe disabled the activation server for CS2 products and Acrobat 7 because of a technical glitch. These products were released over 7 years ago and do not run on many modern operating systems. But to ensure that any customers activating those old versions can continue to use their software, we issued a serial number directly to those customers. While this might be interpreted as Adobe giving away software for free, we did it to help our customers.
While he doesn't outright say it, the particular phrasing seems to suggest that they realize they don't have a leg to stand on with their previous statement of (paraphrased) "it's illegal to use these even though we provided them no questions asked."
