So when my parents went out this morning, they brought me back a little sign thing from Target:

I find it interesting that whoever designed that not only used the correct arrow design, but bothered to use an accurate typeface as well...for a 1-dollar novelty item, a lot of companies would have just slapped on some Helvetica.

Imi: Yeah, I never had this name offline, sorry. You're saying you have a cousin named Irene?

...It's funny that I have so many clocks around here that I can take a picture of my room and include a clock in it without even realizing it until after I post it.

It's not like those two heaps are mutually exclusive you know.

Some people, like you, don't like serious discussion. I rather suspect that is because things like this happen, which is because some people can't handle serious discussion well.

But serious discussion can be fun, even productive, if handled well.

Also, I'd like to say I'm sorry for yelling at you a few days back.

Yes, I have a cousin named Irene. She is a school teacher, I believe. In Arizona. YNTKT

  • Things seem to have gotten unpleasant in my absence today. Clearly I must never leave again.

Unfortunately, I don't think you'd get paid enough to sustain eternal peace to pay rent.
  • I'm a loser. Also, Creeper. And a woman.
    Imi: Ah. Cool.
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
People aren't willing to pay for eternal peace. Figures.

I don't like internet debates either really.

I like more formal debates, with rules and guidelines. But these less formal things with less skilled persons often get personal, because they take direct attacks on their logic and opinions (*Which are the main things you do in a real debate*) as attacks on themselves, and tend to devolve into insults when they are losing.
  • That's why there's no world peace. Or something. I dunno.

  • Peace through Power.

    Peace doesn't sell. Nobody's buying.

I don't mind serious discussions.  I don't hate disagreements, although I admit I don't always handle personal disagreements very well.  But I dislike when an opinion is misconstrued or presumed ridiculous without being given a fair hearing, and that seems to happen a lot online.  When I feel like people are more concerned with making fun of one another, insulting one another or scoring smartassery points than establishing the truth, that really does bother me.

    Agreed

Definitely agreed, Fouria G. I hate when people personally strawman someone else's point. It's one thing if they get it wrong accidentally, but when you explain that's not what you mean and they keep doing it... oy.
  • Hey guys.

Went to Six Flags today. It was blah because I was a pussy and only rode one coaster, and the park doesn't really cater to pussies.

Also the Cobra Starship concert got rained out and my mom accused me of losing valuable coupons, but I did win a Green Lantern cape and we got to see this cool show with dancers in big suits with lights on them, so those were nice.

Otherwise, not really that great. Then again, I should've known since I didn't have much fun the last time we came either.

  • Also sorry about the complaining, I know I probably sound angsty as frak right now but I'm just disappointed in both myself and Six Flags.

Oh, don't worry, we don't mind.

Echoing sentiments that it would be nice to have some nice discussions here. I really, REALLY do not want to believe I have to accept we are a community that can't handle suck things.

And I'm, as I mentioned, the prospect of having to punish regulars did NOT sit well with me either, but I can't exactly just turn a blind eye to when I think a rule has been broken because of that.

And if you or anyone else thinks I really did what I did out of personal bias or because I was in a "bad mood", frankly I'm having trouble containing myself. Let's just say I find such sentients personally hurtful and I'm deeply disappointed in anyone who thinks I would use my staff powers in such a way. I can't help if you find that "personally insulting". I'm frankly pretty insulted that you think I'm a person of so low character.

And, for Pete's sake, no one was banned. Week long probations where what was given out.
  • Though I love the art quality, Lackadaisy Cats updates so slowly, I leave it then forget some of the plot points once I've returned.

Read the Activity page, Tre. The details are all there.

To clarify: Someone who is banned cannot log in at all. Someone who is on probation can't post or view the Activity page, but still has access to PMs.

...And just clicked on the Activity thread.

Lumine, I'm going to repeat myself here.

If you have a problem with a mod action, try discussing it civilly either in a PM, or open a talk thread if you really want to have a real discussion. Don't dump into the main thread and graffiting the activity page because you disagree.

  • Sheesh.

Leave home for a few days and look what happens.

Yeah, it's pretty much settled. You and Imi aren't allowed to leave the fora anymore. :P
  • I was gonna come in here to like, talk about how awesome Toonami is, cuz it's on now and that's usually what I do when it's on.

But if we're like having seriuz time, I can leave and just come back later.

    Spotify...
    Bleach (2009)
    Nevermind (2011)
See, I'd assume those are the dates they first became available on Spotify, but then...
    Incesticide (1992)
    In Utero (1993)

Naw, I'm pretty sure we're done with "seriuz time", in the main thread at least.

It'd be refreshing to have it resume normal functions, Six Flags, and Toonami talk.

Also this. Or at least, I think a lot of this has gotten pretty vague in my head.

Still waiting on the Epic Freckle vs Mordicai showdown.

    I just noticed something amusing:

What’s so great about Hosted Vanilla? June 28

When you’re thinking about building a new community, or migrating your existing community to a new host, there is an almost infinite pool of generic hosting choices available to you. Even as a technology professional these choices can be very difficult to compare, and depending on the size of your community a bad decision here [...]

Yep. This site's admin dashboard is showing advertising for Vanillaforums.com's plans. Desperate much?

    Also Six Flags is AWESOME...

Though, admittedly, this sentient is pretty reliant on how swell you think roller-coasters are.

For the record, I think roller-coasters are AWESOME!

"OH GOD! PLEASE DON'T LEAVE US! WE NEEEEEED YOU!"
  • Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."
I would have said something long before now, but I had no idea what to say. It kind of sucks when you not only can't articulate your thoughts very well in the first place, but can't even think of anything to add to the conversation.

Sorry for the mini-rant. I know I've mentioned stuff like this before.

So in other news, Pokémon Conquest is still pretty fun.
  • I'm watching Bleach right now.

    Well

watching in the sense that I'm waiting for Deadman Wonderland to come on.

  • God this show is such a melodrama.

"CAN YOU PLEASE ADD ALL OF THE AGONY TO YOUR SCREAMS?"

I've been to two Six Flags parks in my life: Wyandot Lake in Powell, Ohio and Six Flags Worlds of Adventure in Aurora, Ohio. Oddly enough, both parks are now defunct.

Wyandot Lake was a tiny little park next to the Columbus Zoo. They even shared a parking lot. It had a decent-sized waterpark and a small amusement park--I think they only had, like, one real rollercoaster. It was about what you would expect, honestly, but it was nice to have at least something like that in Central Ohio.

A few years back Six Flags sold it to the Zoo outright. The Zoo then dismantled a bunch of the rides and re-built it as the "Zoombezi Bay" water park.
  • oh here we go with the sad violin music and dramatic name-scream.

The only Six Flags park in my vicinity was Elitch Gardens, which was a Six Flags park from 1999 to 2007, when it was sold to PARC Management (who no longer runs it, now Herschend Family Entertainment Corporation does). I've never been there.
  • i just saw a skittles commercial where a woman made out with a walrus

fuck me running, the world really is ending.
