LOL REDDIT. Because Digg was such a good idea the first time around! :P
Seriously, though, I'm not all that crazy about religion myself, but anti-theists bother me. Probably because I was raised both Methodist and Mormon (t different times) and so I still have some respect for others' beliefs, and also because one of the best ways to annoy me is to be condescending and stubborn—and that seems to happen a lot on Internet comment boards, especially when religion or politics are involved.
I'm reading Alice The Webcomic, it's very old (old enough that it actually predates the term "webcomic"), and I just found their September 11th, 2001 strip.

A while back on Facebook one of the discussions I got into involved this one fellow who was attending Berkeley, and it was if he was working overtime to fit every Berkeley student stereotype you can imagine. The discussion was about West Texas and its proclivities regarding right winged politics and religion with me as a sort of representative of this demographic, and this was the first time the two of us ever shared words. He immediately talked down to me as if I couldn't walk and chew bubblegum at the same time and even made the assumption that I was a 7-day creationist, which he honestly believed that was typical for any region where the voter turnout was for Bush. After informing him about the diversity this region enjoys and its universities -- which are well known for its curriculums in wind energy and petroleum engineering -- operate on the same level of education as any other accredited institutions in the United States, he stated that surely I must be well ahead of everyone else in my region to be able to keep up with him in a discussion, as if to compliment me.
Eh, not really. The donors are stores and it's the food they can't/didn't sell. Sometimes, though, once it gets to us, it's going at least a little bad. But, there's usually still good stuff we can use.

Well, the summer heat was probably what ruined the broccoli during transport. Last week I was heartbroken because the Asian supermarket that gets in a fresh batch of live crawfish had theirs show up dead because the heatwave killed them all on the way there.

The sad thing is this guy wasn't trolling.
Sounds like a dick.
Don't most of the stereotypes about Texas come from some small rural area anyway?
Forsythe: That could be it. It's in the 90s here. Though, there is a giant meat locker all the food is stored in. But, during transportation something could have gone awry.
I just don't see why using an Arab proverb in that context is inherently weird, the contrast was probably intentional.
Terrorist attacks generate a lot of hate aimed at one community. You only need to look at how Irish people were treated in the UK.
This is probably terrible, but I find noting an increase of hatred towards the Irish as amusing.
Most of my knowledge about Irish-English relations is based on AP Euro, which mainly focused on the times that England screwed over Ireland for some reason or another. It seems like that's all they do.

...I still kind of want to comment on the "social justice" thing that keeps getting mentioned here, but I don't even know what I want to say about it anymore. Every time I even read the phrase I feel kind of angry, and at this point I'm no longer sure who at. I realized the other day that lately I've been way more irritable than usual, so I guess that's colouring my perceptions, but it does seem to come up here a lot.
Not really related, but I was just wondering, can anyone recommend an intelligent online explanation of economics from a conservative/Republican POV? I'd be interested in a liberal/socialist one as well if anyone knows of one that's intelligent and not overtly smug.

I'd try to offer an explanation on conservative ideals regarding the economy but in all honesty I'm completely ignorant whenever it comes to economics. I keep it simple and prefer the flat tax model for everyone.

The strangest thing to me about the "social justice" thing is that the term seems to have become exclusively a pejorative...even the bloggers to who are described as such seem quick to say "I'm not a 'social justice' blogger!" whenever it comes up.
I don't think the aim is to achieve social justice though blogging. That might be why they don't like to be called that, I guess.
I believe I understand the very basics of economic theory (e.g. bubbles and crashes, wealth ≠ money, utility) but I have trouble wrapping my head around the politics of it.

I went to my sister's room to get an iPod cable (we only have a couple left so we're constantly swiping them from each other).
She has an entire wall and both closet doors completely covered in One Direction posters.
It's weird that my baby sister is old enough to go crazy over a boy band.

We are not very good at thinking right now.
Why?

Borne of ignorance, I suppose.

Hatred based on the ethnicity of a country's enemies is unilaterally stupid.
Whether that's going "but the ARABS!!!!!!" or "but the IRISH!!!!" doesn't matter very much.

Headache.
I'm watching "Can't Buy a Thrill" and now I see why people hate the Hip Hippos.

I'm not finding the right word here.

this flows better in my head.
