Another thing about the commercials on this tape: While MST3k itself is kind of timeless despite being made on a low budget and having some dated jokes, the commercials are SO 90s IT IS DEADLY. SEE! Glitchy editing! SEE! Awful, cliched display fonts! SEE! Equally awful NTSC Video Toaster effects! HEAR! Korg M1 patches!
Anon: The usual suspects: That "got milk" font, Papyrus, a few others. But what really gets me is that even on 1993 technology, they don't look all that much better than negative-keyed slides did in 1981. Then again, that's mostly NTSC's fault. :P

Bwahahahaha, this episode was recorded later on (sometime in 1994), and Comedy Central's 1994 look is somehow even more 90s than the previous one! And there's ads for ZIMA!
You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
HAHAHA I remember ads for ZIMA, even back then they seemed so overtly '90s
And here we go, a cheesy videotaped ad for "36 original soft-rock hits by the original artists!" Most of the songs are from the 1980s, but from the outfits and the video quality, you'd be forgiven for thinking the ad was, too. :P
Doctor Who reference in Pokemon B2W2? Headcanon accepted.
The late 80's and early 90's had John K fighting to have good cartoons aired like the New Adventures of Mighty Mouse and Ren and Stimpy. WB created the first good American superhero cartoon with Batman TAS for the first time since the 30's Fleischer Superman cartoons. This is pretty amazing because there was no precedent set for this since, well, the 30's Fleischer cartoons.
Animaniacs was good only because WB put to work the lessons they learned from Tiny Toons. Tiny Toons had its moments but overall it was a mess best forgotten.

I liked Tiny Toons, though I don't remember much of it now.
Well, telling mother about the fin aid went smoother than expected. Probably because I got all the paperwork I needed her to sign and didn't get upset. Somehow she reacts better to me turning in late tax return stuff for financial aid than she does me trying to take a bus to Seattle (because that happened only a week ago and she got really mad about it)
