Not bad for a town that’s existed for less than 4 months, I’d argue.

That nuclear power plant in the distance is not active. I built it trying to plan ahead for future electricity needs once the city expands, but its operating costs were much too high even after slashing its funding, so as of now it’s been decommissioned in favor of a smaller, cheaper solar facility.

The nuclear plant will be placed back in service when demand warrants it, of course.

And here’s a new development further inland I’m calling Center City, because, well, I hope that this will be the central point of the city once it keeps expanding.

I think this is the most satisfied I’ve ever been with the layout of one of my cities. Usually I start out with a small grid of some kind and eventually end up just placing new neighborhoods kind of haphazardly, but here, having the nice, straight highway right-of-way to work with and building the roads to follow the river banks has given it a much more coherent—and aesthetically pleasing—overall plan.

That conspicuous empty block in the second photo is where Mirrorlake’s first university is going to be built, once we have the proper funding.

witchy witchy Opalicchi Oh, that’s a real fun idea, actually. The schoolkids make up stories about how it was decommissioned after a huge accident wiped out half the city’s population or whatever.

It occurred to me bc there were similarly a lot of urban legends about the decommissioned army tunnel near Palmerton (including that it hosted a population of giant spiders?) So u know, it is the sort of thing that comes to mind.

Today is an important day here in the Town of Mirrorlake! The Mirrorlake Nuclear Power Plant, built over a year ago, has finally been brought online!

The city has expanded significantly since we’ve last checked in.

After taking out a loan to meet the demands of the expanding city, Mirrorlake University was opened in Center City…

…which has led to the development of an office district around AJ Ravenswood Boulevard, taking advantage of the newly educated workforce!

A major thunderstorm is rolling through Mirrorlake this evening. I’m sure nothing serious will—

Oh. Huh. It would appear the newly operational nuclear power plant is on fire. You see, that’s pretty interesting because AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

Thankfully, the Mirrorlake Fire Department was able to extinguish the fire at the nuclear power plant with no harm beyond a brief disruption to the city’s power grid. However, the incident exposed major gaps in Mirrorlake’s fire coverage, so new fire houses have been built to serve the Riverside Industrial District.

As always, here’s an overhead view of the entire city, to compare its growth from last year’s photo.

Mirrorlake’s second high school, Ravensview High School, was recently dedicated to serve the Ravensview and Olde Towne districts.

Midway, a small residential area tucked in between two industrial districts. It’s not the cleanest or most glamorous place to live, but it’s kind of cozy…right?

Mirrorlake’s nuclear power plant seems consistently unlucky…it’s caught on fire at least twice more during subsequent thunderstorms. Thankfully, our adequate fire response has kept disaster at bay.

Anyway! Overview of the city.

Some new neighborhoods since last we met:

Amity Meadow, a low-density residential/commercial development so named for its location at the intersection of the extension of Amity Avenue and the extension of Meadow Street.

Riverbend, a high-density residential/commercial/office development so named because…well, you can see.

Here’s the view down the Central Freeway, which was recently extended to Meadow Street.

Center City as viewed from the river, which I’m now realizing I should probably give a name.

Finally, just before press time, Mirrorlake Central Hospital, the city’s first full-scale hospital facility, was dedicated in Center City. This will supplement Mirrorlake’s existing network of small regional medical clinics.
