Okay, a little bit more backstory to follow up that stunning hook.

It's the future. Mankind is dead, and the earth has been overrun with a parasite that has turned some of the flora and near all of the fauna into rampaging killing machines. Then came the ghostlanterns, glimmering meteorites from the heavens, from which came spirits of mankind. Though their powers were limited far away from the lanterns, they found that they could equip shards of metal from the meteorites, which eventually became the Chassis of today. So, the ghosts of mankind now fight against the parasites for territory and resources. 

You'll be a squad of Forerunners, a cross between explorers and rangers, clearing out new areas for settlement and maintaining order in the border towns.
