if there's no sound in a vacuum, why are vacuum cleaners so loud????

the vacuum produced by commercially available vacuum cleaners is not true vacuum in the quantum sense, but rather a metastable false vacuum. while it lacks matter, it contains quantized boson fields that resonate at several frequencies, and this resonance can be transmitted to the outside of the vacuum and eventually effect your eardrums in a manner similar to sound. dogs are more sensitive to quantum field interference to help with hunting, which is why they generally freak out near vacuum cleaners.

Nature abhors a vacuum is a principle of outdated Aristotlean science, and should no longer be an aphorism.
