People get pissy when they see Christmas stuff in November because it's "too early" but talking about Halloween as far back as August gets enthusiastic replies.

Halloween doesn't get enough attention; Christmas gets too much.

That said, I don't mind talking about Halloween in May or Christmas in June.  Meanwhile, I don't like how Christmas music is everywhere in December.

Halloween is starting to be overdone too, to be honest.  But in the same way that Christmas is.

That said, Halloween not being an official holiday and also not being a temporal center for gift-giving makes for less motive to exploit it commercially.  It's generally used as a thing for young children, and cheesy ads otherwise.  Also, in some cases, tourism money, in places like Salem, Massachusetts.
