    Munch munch, chomp chomp...
I legit don't even remember the first one, nor do I remember any others aside from what you listed, aside from Homestuck, or MLP (watched all of three episodes of it).
  • All of those things.

    Also Homestuck, MLP.
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
i read a little of the last 2

could never really get into either though, wasn't really a fan of the art
  • For once, or maybe twice, I was in my prime.
Shlock Mercenary and Sluggy Freelance were both series that I binged or attempted to binge, then fell off and never felt like getting back into, well before I discovered TVT.

Shlock Mercenary and Sluggy Freelance i mean

MLP was fun and Homestuck was awesome

    i did the same

i used to read a lot of webcomics, whereas these days i seldom pick up new ones

i also did this with Misfile, which was fairly horrible with hindsight
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
most of what people talked about there, especially [name of popular anime series]
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
i will say though, Hazelton could probably have written a decent story about cars

manga was a bad influence on him i suspect

    Nanoha
  • My dreams exceed my real life
Incidentally, I wouldn't be surprised if less than 25% of the people who talked about Warhammer 40k on Tvtropes never played the wargame.

This is not a criticism, it's an observation.
  • Somewhere out there is a weeb rapper who came up with the phrase "as lyrical as Nanoha" and thinks they're the cleverest motherfucker on the planet
  • My dreams exceed my real life
    Elfen Lied

    those Total Drama things

    Calvin And Hobbes: The Series
  • warhammer is exactly like touhou but with beefy guys instead of ladies and armor instead of hats
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
    TWEWY
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
    City of Heroes

    Magic: The Gathering

Sounds my style. Well, okay, I know it is.

Still fun, even if I don't like it as much now and consider it a little overrated.
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
i tried to get into warhammer at one point but i was a total noob about it

i wanted to paint my own figures but after one sloppy attempt i gave up

then i realized how expensive the whole hobby was and gave up on the idea
  • My dreams exceed my real life
Warhammer is over-expensive, and Games Workshop is made up of self-destructive grognards.

We can do anything if we do it together.
I'm still convinced that the Whateley Universe was an elaborate hoax played on tropers by a couple of bored editors.
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
that would be kind of funny if true
  • the discorld books are legit very good, and not just by troper standards
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat

Michael Eisner's exploitation of IP even went beyond stuff Disney owned, huh

i still associate this with pornography about golems, for some reason, not that it comes up much
  • I still have no clue what whateley is
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
Apparently it's a really bad rip of X-Men
  • My dreams exceed my real life

It was something to do with transpeople and Lovecraft mythos I think.
  • I never thought that Schlock Mercenary was over-hyped in TvTropes. But I've successfully binged the entire comic, so my perspective may be falwed.

    TWEWY

    Most of the anime stuff

    Sluggy Freelance/EGS/Erfworld
  • I also don't know what twewy is
  • Whateley Universe still doesn't feel like a thing to me.

My mind refuses to acknowledge it as something that exists. Did a similar thing with Homestuck back in the day.
  • My dreams exceed my real life
    naney said:

There is a character in The Dunwich Horror named Wilbur Whateley, which I assume is part of the inspiration.
  • I know that but

Yes, i have read some of them and they are worth reading.

    The World Ends With You
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
i actually used to read EGS and with hindsight i don't know how i put up with the art
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
    or the bad jokes

    or the bad characterization
  • ooohhhhhh

    I played some of that

fun mechanics but the dialogue killed it for me
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
i do know part of the appeal was the gender swap stuff, and part of it was the novelty of a free online comic
  • My dreams exceed my real life

"You really can't blame him for that. Besides, I'd place far more of the blame on Whedon. It's not like Tropers actually sit down and take the time to read Hitchhiker's Guide or any of the Discworld books, they just know as nerds they should like/pretend to have read them."
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
No see Discworld is EXTREMELY troperish

it's just also very, very good
  • kill living beings
as I recall whately had this whple thing with author self promotion that the rest of these mainly did not
  • We can do anything if we do it together.

    Yeah, I remembered that.

That was why I was amused that you forgot what it was. :P

yeah i think that was it

    survival of the fittest, too
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
Hitchhiker's Guide is probably less troperish than Discworld, but it tends to appeal to SF nerds and TVT had a lot of those
