Inside Out: The Series could be a good idea

If it were about Riley growing up and not generic sitcom hijinks

  • Man is a most complex simple creature: see what he weaves, and how base his reasons for doing so.
Sometimes I wonder if we would see more uses of the homunculus theory in modern media if we didn't spend hundreds of years laughing at it for being "unscientific" and instead kept it around for narrative shorthand.
  • ...And even when your hope is gone
move along, move along, just to make it through

    Yeah, it could be good.

I don't want to see the teen whininess episodes, though.

They better not touch that big red button.

I'm specifically thinking about things like Inside Out and Osmosis Jones, where humans are portrayed as machines that carry a colony of multiple sapients, almost to the point where you wonder where the human's agency begins and where the beings inside of them ends.

There was a Beano cartoon strip with that premise that i read as a kid.  It was called The Numbskulls.  Only instead of personifying different traits, they operated different parts of the body - one was the brains, one looked through the eyes and so on.

The strip consisted almost entirely of awkward situations and the occasional gross-out gag, iirc.
  • My dreams exceed my real life
I would swallow my pride, I would choke on the rinds
But the lack thereof would leave me empty inside
Swallow my doubt turn it inside out
Find nothin' but faith in nothin'
Want to put my tender, heart in a blender
Watch it spin around to a beautiful oblivion
Rendezvous then I'm through with you

I burn, burn like a wicker cabinet, chalk white and oh so frail
I see our time has gotten stale
The tick tock of the clock is painful
All sane and logical, I want to tear it off the wall
I hear words and clips and phrases
I think sick like ginger ale
My stomach turns and I exhale

I would swallow my pride, I would choke on the rinds
But the lack thereof would leave me empty inside
I would swallow my doubt turn it inside out
Find nothin' but faith in nothin'
Want to put my tender, heart in a blender
Watch it spin around to a beautiful oblivion
Rendezvous then I'm through with you

So Cal is where my mind states
But it's not my state of mind
I'm not as ugly, sad as you
Or am I origami, folded up and just pretend
Demented as the motives in your head

I would swallow my pride, I would choke on the rinds
But the lack thereof would leave me empty inside
I would swallow my doubt turn it inside out
Find nothin' but faith in nothin'
Want to put my tender, heart in a blender
Watch it spin around to a beautiful oblivion
Rendezvous then I'm through with you
    (Rendezvous)

I alone am the one you don't know
You need take heed, feed your ego
Make me blind when your eyes close
Sink when you get close, tie me to the bedpost
I alone am the one you don't know
You need, you don't know you need me
Make me blind when your eyes close
Tie me to the bed post

I would swallow my pride, I would choke on the rinds
But the lack thereof would leave me empty inside
Swallow my doubt turn it inside out
Find nothin' but faith in nothin'
Want to put my tender, heart in a blender
Watch it spin around to a beautiful oblivion
Rendezvous then I'm through, now I'm through with you

    Through with you

Rendezvous then I'm through with you

The right side of Lefty actually reminds me of the Numbskulls.  A lot of the time you'd see cross sections of the protagonist, Ed, and they were quite like that, only less mechanical, more minimalist.  Still had the levers, though.

  • My dreams exceed my real life
That reminds me of old Mad Magazine comics.
