Why do people love Jurassic World so much?

I saw it on Monday and found it to be brainless, utterly forgettable semi-entertainment. But it had the biggest worldwide opening weekend of all time and it has great buzz. Did the people want a good brainless movie?

I suppose what I'm getting at here is that I'm not a big fan of huge Hollywood machine event pictures anymore. It doesn't help that a lot of the ones I've seen have lost their luster after two or three viewings.

Jimmy Fallon isn't a grumpy asshole like Jay Leno is, as far as I cna tell, so that's something at least.

I guess it would make sense to have a big opening if nothing else, since it's a follow on from a very popular film series and has a neat concept (as has been said, dinosaurs). Whether or not it has any staying power once you've seen it the first time on the opening weekend, well

I've also pretty much lost my taste for huge Hollywood machine event pictures, but based on what I've heard about both, I think I would rather Fury Road be this successful than Jurassic World.

i imagine that its being part of a successful franchise and having a strong marketing campaign had something to do with that, plus, as has been said, dinosaurs

i'd be wary of assessing the popularity of something on the basis of the number of people who watched it, because it's perfectly possible to watch something and dislike it
