When I was in high school, we were allowed to dink around on the computers as long as we had extra time in class and we'd gotten any classwork done. My school had 90-minute periods, so this happened quite a bit.

(And then there was Comp Sci class, where dinking around on the computers was the entire point. There was no Internet then, though, so we wrote a lot of our own programs and brought in shareware games from home.)

my high school computer class introduced me to Scheme, Jigsaw Puzzle, SimpleText, Snood, and Bolo

and also my first experience trying (albeit failing) to get around the block on those programs when they were disabled
