The punch might not be an instant K.O., which will allow them to continue being wrong and/or a jerk. It's also poor for didactic purposes.

The trick is to go for the chokehold. That gives you time to try and explain why they shouldn't finish that thought while still shutting them up.

In the case of iPhone users, with a couple of setting tweaks, it's just as easy to use emoji as it is to type out emoticons

No idea for any other platforms besides Android and some forums (present company excepted).

My messaging app has a hella "+" button where all the attachments you could think of for a text goes, and it's awesome

Reaction GIFs, emoji, attaching pictures and video and even audio is as easy as two taps, I love it
