George Lucas

The word "youngling" in Revenge of the Sith is clearly a reference to The Coventry Carol, thus twisting the Christ symbolism that had been used for Anakin Skywalker up to that point, portraying him as a tool of a Herod rather than a savior.

George Lucas is a genius.

Sup bitches, witches, Haters, and trolls.
he donated all the money he got from selling star wars to schools

also when his rich asshole neighbors got pissy about him opening an animation studio he just made it into low-income housing instead

clearly, if you hate the prequels, you hate schools and low-income housing

    Legit. Details, please?

That $4 billion wasn't all cash though - half of it was Disney stock!

    So? That's not the point.

It's part of the point though. Sleight of hand.
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
Fair enough, but when they say "the bulk of the money," I am pretty sure they mean cashing out stock as well; and regardless, it's still billions of dollars being put into education. It's a good move.

Appreciate it. I like Lucas a fair bit more now, even if I'm still not big on his work.
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
Also: Holding onto some modicum of stock allows him some degree of oversight with respect to future projects. Whether or not this is a good thing is another matter entirely, but if the original creator wants some say in how his inventions are handled by others, monetary leverage is useful.
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
i don't understand the stock thing. What does it mean?
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
I'm pretty sure what Anonus is trying to say is that he "only" is putting the raw cash he got from the deal into it and not the money tied up in stock, which makes it seem like he's giving more of it away than he is.

I'm saying that's a bit silly and immaterial.
