Apparently PokeBeach has a source that correctly stated the names of the four new Pokemon and the effect of the Parabolic whatever attack, so they are tentatively trusting them
Among possible things:
Fairy type. Mawile would become Steel/Fairy Type. Fairy type is weak to Poison and Steel, is IMMUNE to Dragon, is strong against Dragon, Dark, and Fighting, and is resisted by Fire and Psychic
Mewtwo actually gets two new forms, both activated by items

If this is true, it'll be the third time that someone's type is retroactively changed in a new generation. (The others being Magnemite and Rotom's forms.) Cool.
Only issue I have is that it makes Steel even MORE powerful. Sure, dragon would get knocked down a few notches. But unless there is a second new type that fucks with steel...

Come to think of it, I don't think many people would have expected Fairy to be type number 18. Most people seemed to want Light or Sound.
I think I like Fairy better than both of those, to be honest. It kinda makes more sense as a Pokémon type.
I went through a phase of watching the show when I was about six because I liked the various creatures, but honestly, the whole aspect of trainers pitting them against each other in fights kind of creeped me out.
Sredni: The Pokemon actually like fighting. It's how they get stronger. So it's an exchange of services. They protect the trainer (and as the societies in Pokemon developed, help them win badges), and in return the Trainers help them grow stronger
Heck, it's even in the legends that the Pokemon who don't like this just avoid commonly used paths
Now what SHOULD be worrying is that you can capture Pokemon at Mt Silver, which appears to be one of these, "Oh yeah we can.stay here to avoid capture!" places... Where you proceed to capture the Pokemon

It's a pretty divisive premise on a very fundamental level. You can either suspension-of-disbelief it, or you can't. If you can't, I don't really blame you.
One of the reasons I sort of disliked Black/White's plot was that it tried to address those criticisms in what was, imo, a very clumsy way.
